Description

The pair of houses at 24 and 25 St Andrew Street, Tiverton, date from the late 18th century. They are constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a 20th-century tile roof and brick stacks topped with decorative pots. Cast-iron rainwater goods are also present.

The houses were originally built as a single dwelling but are now divided, each being double-depth and one room wide, with separate front doors, staircases, and end stacks. The front facade is symmetrical with three bays. A pilastered doorcase features an entablature and cornice. The front door is four-panelled, with the top two panels being fielded; the inner door has two lower panels and a glazed upper panel. The ground and first floors each have two windows with flat brick arches, originally with hornless 12-pane sashes. The first-floor window on the right-hand side has been replaced with a horned sash. A metal plaque reading "FP 90" is positioned above the front door.

The interior was only partially inspected. The passage leading from the front door to the rear of the property has a floor of red and yellow tiles, alongside a panelled dado. Surviving original features are possible.
