Description
The Forge is a cottage with an attached barn, formerly a cottage with a forge, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is constructed of random rubble flint and features a thatched roof with gable ends. The cottage has two rooms and is now accessed through an addition on the right side. It is heated by an axial stack with brick shafts, and the barn, which has been converted into living accommodation, is located on the left side. The building is two storeys high. The front exterior includes two and three-light casement windows, with some dating to the 19th century, but mostly from the 20th century, and a brick porch. Inside, there are some original carpentry features, and the roof is supported by collar rafter trusses that are pegged and crossed at the apex.
