Description
No. 15 St Peter Street is a house built in the late 18th century or early 19th century. It features a red brick front that has been painted, and it has a hipped slated roof. There is an old red brick chimney on the left side wall, with its upper courses projecting to form a cap.
The house is three storeys high with a basement and has three windows across the front. On the ground floor, there is a single three-light window on the left and a doorway on the right. The doorway has a wooden doorcase with fluted pilasters and an entablature, featuring a frieze with a pair of triglyph-like strips at either end, along with panelled reveals and a soffit or arch. The door itself is six-panelled, with the two lowest panels flush and the top two now glazed, and it has a narrow three-paned fanlight above it. The windows are flush-framed with segmental arches and consist of six-paned sashes, with the outer lights of the ground storey window being two-paned. The ventilator grilles to the basement are adorned with elaborate mid-19th century cast-iron scroll work. There is a small eaves cornice, and at the rear, which is visible from a public alley, the third storey windows also have six-paned sashes. The interior has not been inspected.
