Description

This is a terrace of three houses with a shop, built in the mid-19th century. The front is made of stone rubble, featuring quoins and window surrounds of cream brick, while the upper parts of the side walls are exposed red brick. The roof is slated, and there is a red brick chimney on the front slope, positioned between Nos. 10 and 12, with upper courses that project to form an entablature topped with spiked pots.

The terrace stands three storeys tall, with a basement at No. 14. Each house is one window wide. Nos. 10 and 12 have mirrored ground storeys, with an adjoining doorway in the center and a window at each end. The doors are 6-panelled, likely late 20th-century imitations, except for No. 10, which features an original 4-paned fanlight. No. 10 has a 6-paned sash window with horns, possibly an early replacement, while the sashes at No. 12 are from the 20th century. Between Nos. 12 and 14, there is a segmental-headed entrance to an open passage that leads to Rice Buildings at the back.

No. 14 has a 6-paned shop window, likely original, with a 4-panelled shop door to the left. Above both the window and door is a wooden entablature. The door consists of two solid flush panels below and two glazed panels above, along with a 2-paned fanlight. The upper storey windows are segmental-headed with chamfered surrounds, featuring 6-paned sashes, except for the upper third storey sashes, which have only 3 panes. There is a moulded board below the eaves, and over the passage to Rice Buildings, there is a moulded beam from the late 16th or 17th century, likely re-used. The interior has not been inspected.
