Description

Chawleigh War Memorial is located in the churchyard of the Church of St James, which is a Grade I-listed building, near the lych gate and the village school, both of which are Grade II-listed. The memorial is made of granite and is designed as an obelisk that rises from a tapered pedestal, which itself stands on a square base.

On the front of the obelisk, there is a wreath carved in low relief. The pedestal features an inscription that reads: IN/ AFFECTIONATE REMEMBRANCE/ OF/ THOSE WHO FELL IN/ THE GREAT WAR/ 1914 – 1918/ 1939 – 1945.
