Description
Myrtle Cottage is a small cottage, likely built in the mid 19th century. The structure features a mix of partly exposed and partly plastered stone rubble, with some sections possibly made of cob. It has a stone rubble stack with a plastered brick chimney shaft and a thatched roof, while the service room has a slate roof.
The cottage has a two-room plan, facing southeast and positioned at right angles to the road. There is a central entry, with a stack at the right (northeast) end and a service room or former store located at right angles behind the left room. The building is two storeys tall, with a single storey service room.
The front of the cottage has an irregular two-window arrangement featuring early 20th-century casements with glazing bars, along with a contemporary door located just to the right of the centre. The roof is hipped at both ends. The left end facing the road is blind and constructed of exposed rubble. The service room, also made of exposed rubble, has a side facing the road that includes a 20th-century casement and door.
The interior does not have any exposed carpentry, and the roof has not been inspected.
