Description
Beech Tree Cottage is an early 19th-century house located in Cheriton Fitzpaine. The building features roughcast rubble on the exterior, with the rear refaced in 20th-century brick. It has rubble stacks topped with both 19th and 20th-century brick and a slate roof. The house has a three-room plan that faces north-east, with a through passage that includes a staircase situated between the central and right (south-east) rooms. There is an axial stack between the central and left rooms and a stack at the right end.
The cottage is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical two-window front. The ground floor windows are horned replacement 12-pane sashes, while the first floor features small pointed arch-headed windows. A plain service door is located at the left end, and there is a four-panel main door with a 20th-century porch positioned between the sash windows. Notably, the first-floor window above the main door contains Victorian stained glass. The interior remains unmodernised and the cottage is included for its group value.
