Description
Oxford House is a house that was originally two cottages, built in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of plastered cob or rubble, with rubble stacks topped with 19th-century brick, and features a slate roof. The building was originally a pair of adjoining cottages that face southwest, away from the road. Each cottage has a small two-room layout with a stack at the right (northwest) end. The house has two storeys and an overall four-window front, with three windows on the right and one on the left. All windows, except for a small fixed pane window to the left of center, are 12-pane sashes, with the first-floor windows being slightly narrower than those on the ground floor. Both doors are four-panel designs with flat hoods supported by shaped brackets. The roof is hipped on the left side. The left (southeast) end wall facing the road is angled back to fit the corner, and both the end wall and the left side of the rear wall have 12-pane sashes, although the windows in between are from the 20th century. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included for its group value.
