Description

The Hewitt headstone, located approximately 4 metres south of the aisle of the Church of St Mary, is a Grade II listed memorial dated 1762 in memory of James Hewitt. Made of hamstone, the upright slab stands about 400mm high. The inscription features the first word in Gothic lettering, while the remainder is in Roman serif upper and lower case lettering, recording the death of James Hewitt in 1762.
