Description
This is a headstone dated 1791, located approximately 3 metres west of the tower of the Church of St James. It commemorates John Hill and is made of hamstone ashlar. The upright slab stands about 1.2 metres high and features a shaped head carved with an hourglass, flanked by winged cherub's heads and scrolls. Below this, a rectangular frame is adorned with carved foliage. The inscription is in cursive italic lettering, recording the death of John Hill in 1791.
