Description
This is a bridge over a lake, located approximately 35 metres north of South Lodge in Shobrooke Park. It dates from the mid-19th century and is built from volcanic ashlar over brick, featuring pink mudstone coping. The bridge is designed with three equal segmental arches, with red brick visible underneath. The arches rest on low cutwaters that project slightly and have pointed ends cut off flat with sloping tops. The edges of the arches are chamfered and meet the cutwaters. At road level, there is a plain projecting band. The parapet coping shows slight weathering on both sides and has been treated with verniculation. The bridge is finished with plain square-sectioned terminal piers topped with flattened pyramid caps.
