Description
Nos. 14 and 14A on Fore Street are two dwellings located at the end of a row that may date back to a single medieval construction. However, they do not retain any early features and are not shown on the 1842 title map. The buildings are made of plastered cob with stone footings and have a thatched roof, with a gabled end on the left side. A truncated rear lateral stack provides heat to one room. The buildings are two stories tall, featuring a front with a three-window range. The first floor has two- and three-light casement windows, one of which has an old frame that may be from the 18th century, while another has eight leaded panes per light. The ground floor has three-light windows, and there is one front door for No. 14 and one end door for No. 14A. The interior of No. 14A includes one chamfered ceiling cross beam, and the roof construction appears to be from the late 18th or 19th century. These buildings are included for their group value.
