Description
The Willows is a semi-detached house located on Belmont Road in Tiverton, built in the mid-19th century. The front is made of red brick, while the left side wall is rendered. It features a patterned red-tiled roof with a red brick chimney at each end of the ridge.
The house is double-fronted and likely double-depth, standing two storeys tall and three windows wide. The doorway replaces the middle ground-storey window, and all openings have segmental arches. The entrance includes a six-panelled door with a rectangular fanlight above, which has glazing bars with margin-panes. On either side of the door are French windows with transom lights, all glazed to match the fanlight.
Across the front is an open verandah supported by patterned iron columns, featuring a partly glazed pent-roof (some glazing is missing and has been replaced with boarding in the center). The upper-storey windows have barred sashes, with six panes in the center and eight panes on the outside. A moulded board runs below the eaves.
The interior has not been inspected. The architectural character of The Willows is significantly influenced by its verandah and the wooden glazing bars in its windows. It is similar in style to Nos 8-14 (even), located a little further to the west. The other house in the pair, No.34, has been completely altered.
