Description

17 and 19 Victoria Park Road are a pair of attached houses dating from the mid-19th century, altered in the 20th century. They are constructed of stuccoed walls with a slate hipped roof, featuring a bracketed eaves cornice and rendered stacks.

The houses are of double-depth plan and built in an Italianate style. The symmetrical east front is 1:3:1 bays, with the end bays set back and incorporating porches on the ground floor; the left bay is set back further. A band runs along the first-floor level, with rusticated quoins and corner pilasters above. The windows are tripartite, featuring round arches with pilasters and archivolts, with a blind light in the centre and single lights to the left and right. Flanking the set-back porches are round arches. Late 20th-century flat roof dormers are visible, with the dormer to the left of centre breaking the eaves. The interiors have not been inspected.

The houses are a significant example of a pair of large mid-19th century attached villas in the Italianate style, set within a group of stuccoed villas on Victoria Park Road.
