Description
This is a large house, dating from the mid-19th century, and later used as offices. It is built with a solid wall construction, finished with painted stucco, and has a hipped slate roof and cast iron rainwater goods. The building is rectangular in plan and has a porch on the left side. The architectural style is Italianate.
The house has two storeys, an attic, and a basement. The front facade is symmetrical, with three bays. A prominent feature is the elaborate eaves treatment, which incorporates a version of an entablature; deep boxed eaves are supported by corbelled brackets that rise above a moulded cornice and clasp pilasters on the left and right. The central bay of the front projects slightly. The windows have moulded architraves and are fitted with two-pane horned sashes; ground floor windows have scalloped valances. The basement has two-light casement windows. Dormers with hipped roofs and deep eaves on brackets are visible in the attic, glazed with two-light casements featuring glazing bars. The projecting single-storey porch on the left has Ionic columns supporting an entablature, and a six-panel door with glazed upper panels, set within panelled reveals.
The interior includes wooden shutters to the ground floor windows. Other original features may also survive.
