Description

A pair of attached houses dating from around the mid-19th century, built in an Italianate style. The houses are stuccoed with a slate hipped roof and a modillion eaves cornice. A central rendered axial stack sits between the two houses. They are large, double-depth houses.

The symmetrical east front has four bays, with the central bays slightly advanced and featuring segmental-headed recesses. A moulded string course runs at first floor cill level, with small brackets beneath the windows. The first-floor windows are segmental-arched sashes with 12 panes, while the outer windows are set within moulded architraves. Large tripartite sashes with glazing bars and cornices on console brackets are found in the recesses of the advanced bays. The doorways on either side have rectangular overlights with diagonally intersecting glazing bars and panelled doors, all topped with similar cornices. Late 20th-century flat roof dormers have been added to the attic level. The interior was not inspected. The houses are part of a group of stuccoed Italianate villas along Victoria Park Road.
