Description
1 and 3 Victoria Park Road is a pair of attached houses built around the mid-19th century, with later extensions added in the 19th century. The houses are finished in stucco and feature a slate hipped roof with a modillion eaves cornice and rendered stacks.
The exterior consists of two storeys, an attic, and a basement. The east front has a symmetrical arrangement with a 1:2:1 bay layout, including stringcourses at the cill levels and a band at the first floor level. The central two bays feature three-light round-arch windows with pilasters and archivolts. The outer bays are set back and have similar single-light windows on the first floor. Below these, there are porches with pilastered round arch doorways, keyblocks, fanlights with radiating glazing bars, rusticated flanking piers, and balcony balustrades above. The doorway of the right-hand house (No. 1) has been converted into a window. Two dormers with semi-circular pediments are also present.
To the right, there is a later 19th-century two-storey, one-bay stuccoed extension, which has a two-light pilastered window on the first floor, a round arch window on the ground floor, and a portico in the angle. The left side of No. 2 features three blind round arch windows on the first floor and later single-storey extensions.
The houses are part of a group of stuccoed Italianate villas located on Victoria Park Road. The interiors have not been inspected.
