Description

The properties at 5 and 7 Victoria Park Road are a pair of attached houses dating from around the mid-19th century, with a later extension added circa the late 19th or early 20th century. The houses are constructed of stucco, with a slate hipped roof and a decorative modillion eaves cornice. Rendered chimney stacks are also present.

The houses are of Italianate style and have a plan form consisting of a pair of large attached houses, with the extension on the left side. The east front has two storeys, an attic, and a basement. The front has four bays, with the central bays projecting slightly. A fifth bay, set back slightly on the left, represents the later extension. A moulded string course runs along the first-floor cill level, featuring small brackets beneath the windows. The windows have moulded cambered architraves with keyblocks; the ground-floor architraves are eared and have moulded cills. The windows are sash windows, with glazing bars in No. 7 (on the left). Doorways are located on both the left and right, each with an eared cambered architrave and keyblock. No. 7’s doorway is within a porch. A later canted bay window has been added to No. 5 (on the right). Two later gabled dormers are visible in the roof.

The interior has not been inspected.

The properties are part of a group of stuccoed Italianate villas situated on Victoria Park Road.
