Description
Church Masons is a cottage, part of a pair, dating from the early to mid 19th century. It is built from plastered brick and features a mansard slate roof that replaced a gabled-end roof, which had an oval oculus in the gable wall, as seen in an undated photograph. The cottage is single-depth and was likely originally a workshop with living space above. It has two storeys and an attic.
The front elevation has a three-window canted range, with each window bay separated by tall brick buttresses. The attic contains two-light casement windows. On the first floor, there is one blocked window, one 16-pane hornless sash window, and a 20th-century cantilever window. The ground floor has one blocked window and one 16-pane hornless sash window, along with a door that is sheltered by a simple canopy. There are no windows on the side elevation that adjoins Church Cottage. Church Masons has an unusual appearance and contributes distinctively to the group of buildings near the south gate of the churchyard. It is included for its group value.
