Description

The Maltsters Arms is a mid-19th century public house, potentially incorporating earlier fabric. It is constructed of painted brick with a gabled slate roof. The ground floor bar is large and obscures the original layout of the building. Later brick rear extensions likely housed a malt house, which operated on the site until the 1920s. The building is two storeys high with a six-window front. The first floor has six horned sash windows, and the ground floor has six 16-pane hornless sash windows. One ground floor window has its lower sash glazing bars missing. There are two entrance doors, each with simple surrounds. Three chimney stacks, two lateral and one axial, are present, all with brick shafts.
