Description
Church Cottage is a cottage that likely dates back to the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of roughcast cob on stone footings and features an asbestos tile gabled-end roof. The cottage has a single depth two-room plan and stands two storeys high.
The front of the building has a two-window range, with 19th-century three-light casements on the first floor. These are positioned on either side of a central doorway that is topped with a canopy supported by brackets. The right-hand end of the cottage is partly weatherboarded and includes a single window above a lean-to. There is also one first-floor window at the rear and an internal end stack to the right.
Inside, the cottage features two cross ceiling beams that are chamfered with step stops, and the fireplace lintel is also chamfered with hollow step stops. The roof appears to date from the 18th or early 19th century, with straight principals that are morticed at the apex.
