Description
A row of three cottages dates from the 18th century, with alterations in the 19th century and later. The cottages are built with roughcast and plastered cob on stone footings, with some brick detailing. They have gabled-end thatched roofs. Each cottage is two rooms deep and one room wide. Internal left-hand end stacks and two axial stacks, all with brick shafts are present, along with a dormer window to each cottage. "Alwyne," the left-hand cottage, has a two-light metal casement window on the first floor, and a canted bay window with a 1:2:1 pane design below, to the left of a plain door with a rectangular fanlight under a canopy supported by shaped brackets. The central cottage is bow-fronted, with a sixteen-pane hornless sash window on each floor; it has a glazed door to the right and a rectangular fanlight, with a canopy matching that of "Alwyne." The right-hand cottage features late 20th-century hornless sash windows to the front and 20th-century casements to the end elevation. The cottages are included on the list for their contribution to the group value of the surrounding area, particularly in relation to the nearby church and the cottages opposite.
