Description

The Peter Dominic premises, which also includes shops occupied by Briggs, Davies (a binocular shop), and Yendells, is located on the west side of Fore Street and dates back to the early 19th century. This row of buildings features a stucco façade, with the premises occupied by Briggs comprising two storeys, while the others have three storeys. The Briggs shop has two casement windows set in splayed reveals, and its front is flanked by incised panelled pilasters that have been altered by the addition of a modern shop front. The other shops each have one window on the upper floors, with sash windows that retain their glazing bars, framed by wide architraves. The shop fronts are paired and date from the 19th century, featuring a common frieze and cornice, with light windows and glazed doors. Davies's shop has a fanlight with ogee-headed panes. The buildings have low-pitched gable end slate roofs. The Davies shop, located on Old Fore Street, has a small stucco front with a gabled design, a very small three-light casement window, and a ground floor shop that includes panelled pilasters flanking the door and window, topped with a frieze and cornice.
