Description

The Old Ship Cafe, located on the west side of Old Fore Street, dates back to 1633 and is a late 18th-century building. It is two storeys high and features a stucco facade. On the first floor, there are three slightly recessed sash windows with thin frames, which have later glazing. The ground floor includes both tripartite and single sash windows, with the original glazing bars still intact.

The main entrance is notable for its impressive doorcase, which is adorned with fluted Tuscan pilasters, a "Chinoiserie" fretted frieze, and a pediment. The double doors consist of six flush and fielded panels, two of which are glazed. To the right, there is a side entrance that features a marginal glazed door with a bottom panel, accompanied by thin flanking pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice above.

The listed buildings on the west side of Old Fore Street are recognized as a group.
