Description

The Old Windmill is a windmill tower built in 1786 by Sam Flood, a baker. It features a round tower made of red sandstone, which is stuccoed, and has a slate conical roof. The cap and gear are missing. The structure has four floors, with the first two floors having once been used as a dwelling; there are two ground-floor windows and one first-floor window still visible. On the south side of the tower, there is a stone inscription that reads: 'Erected by Salo Flood, Baker, A.D.1786. Vive le Ingenie'. The windmill is part of a group with the former miller's cottage, now known as Windmill Cottage.
