Description
Bishop's Court is a 16th-century building, originally the site of a manor house, and now used as a farm. It is two storeys high, with roughcast exterior walls and a slate roof. A stone gabled porch features a three-centred door opening, with a coat of arms positioned above. A slightly projecting chimney, built of ashlar, is to the right, and set into the angle is a small carved angel on a stone bracket, holding a scroll. The building is associated with Bishop Grandison, who leased the property to the Mercer family during the reign of Edward III, and it remained in that family's ownership for some time. Later 3-light casement windows have glazing with quasi-segmental heads.
