Description

Foxenhole Mills comprise three blocks dating from the early 19th century, built on the site of earlier mills. The buildings are constructed with roughcast rendering and slate roofs. The central block is the mill itself, a three-story structure with weatherboarding from ground to eaves on its left side. A door is positioned on the first floor, accompanied by a window above it and another below; this section of the mill is built over a water channel. To the right of the mill are doors on both the ground and first floors, along with one casement window on each floor, except for the top floor which features a blank panel. Adjacent to the mill is the miller’s house, a two-story building with two casement windows and a central blank panel. The doorcase is distinguished by pilasters, a frieze, and a moulded cornice. Finally, a warehouse stands to the left of the mill, featuring two stories, three casement windows, and a central door opening. The mill remains operational, although the original water wheel has been replaced by turbines.
