Description
St Saviour's Bridge is a road bridge over the River Otter, dated 1851. It features a single-span design measuring 23 meters in length. The bridge consists of five segmental arch cast-iron girders arranged side-by-side, supported by splayed volcanic ashlar abutments with granite coping. At road level, there is a bull-nose string and terminal piers. The segmental arch girders include pierced spandrels adorned with Gothic arcading, and above these are panels in the frieze with cusped ends and quatrefoils. The bridge is finished with cast-iron parapet railings that have small cusped arches. A small cast-iron plaque at the top of the arch is inscribed: 'Joseph Butler and Co. Stanningley Iron Works Nr Leeds 1851'.
