Description
Cadhayes is a detached house that possibly dates back to the 16th century, with some later alterations. It is constructed of roughcast cob on stone footings and features a half-hipped thatched roof. The layout is likely a three-room, cross-passage plan, with the hall and a very small inner room located to the left of the passage. The hall is heated by a front external lateral stack, while a long service end, which may have been extended, is heated by an internal end stack. Both stacks have brick shafts. The house has two storeys and an irregular arrangement of windows on the front, with a four-window range that includes two windows on either side of the stack at the first-floor level, featuring lintels at eaves level. The two windows to the right are late 20th century and do not have glazing bars, and there is a similar window sequence on the ground floor. The rear of the house has 20th-century extensions and a veranda. The interior was not accessible at the time of the resurvey.
