Description
Prior's Court is a house with a late 16th century core that has been remodelled and extended in the 19th century. It is constructed of cob and rendered, topped with a gabled slate roof. The earlier structure has been integrated into a range that is at right angles to the current front, creating an L-shaped plan. The house is two storeys tall and features a symmetrical three-window arrangement typical of the early 19th century. The central bay projects out as a two-storey porch, which may be a later 19th-century addition that reused an earlier window. The entrance has a panelled door flanked by fluted pilaster jambs and panelled reveals, while all the windows are fitted with two 6-pane timber hornless sashes. On the right-hand side elevation, there is a stack, and to its right is a moulded beam that is now the lintel for a three-light 18th-century window, which has six leaded panes in each light and iron uprights. Inside, there is a room at the end of the wing that features two stop-chamfered beams, with one beam having step stops.
