Description
The Church of St Peter, built in 1893 by G H Fellowes Prynne, is designed in a free Early English style. It is constructed from grey stone with yellow stone dressings and features a tiled roof. The church consists of a nave, north and south aisles, and does not have a clerestory. It includes double south transepts with an apse on the east side and a south porch. The windows showcase geometric tracery and lancets, with a prominent five-light east window also featuring geometric tracery. The west end has a group of three tall two-light windows above a gabled portico. Inside, there are five-bay arcades supported by piers with marble shafts and moulded capitals. The chancel arch is adorned with clusters of similar marble shafts, and the responds rest on corbels with carved angels. The interior has a boarded wagon roof. Notable furnishings include a carved stone reredos, a stone and wrought iron screen, and a pulpit with wrought iron and brasswork, along with modern seating.
