Description
Peak Cottage is a detached house located halfway up Peak Hill, raised above road level and largely hidden from view. It features early 19th century "cottage ornee" embellishments on an older farm cottage. The building is long and low, constructed of stucco with one storey and an attic. It has a thatched roof with eaves that sweep out to form a verandah, supported by cast iron columns and featuring a fretted eaves fascia. There are six thatched casement dormers and three "Gothic" French windows on the ground floor, which have wooden shaped drip moulds with scroll ends that are possibly later additions. The front of the cottage is screened from the entrance courtyard by a modern extension designed in a sympathetic style, which includes a thatched roof, garage, and doorway. The overall appearance is picturesque.
