Description

The Clock Tower, located at Connaught Gardens on Peak Hill Road, dates back to 1633. This castellated tower, which is partly rendered and constructed from flint, features high walls and steps at the head of Jacobs Ladder. It was originally part of the boathouse for an early 19th-century house known as "Seaview." This house had a sinister reputation in local tradition but has since been demolished, leaving only a few walls remaining. In 1934, the property was presented to the town by the Duke of Connaught and has since been developed into the Connaught Gardens.
