Description

This is a group of five terraced houses, numbered 14 to 22, Montpellier Road, dating from the earlier to mid-19th century. The houses display an unusual design, with colourwashed stucco facades and slate roofs, topped by tall red brick chimneys. They are two storeys high and arranged symmetrically. Each house features a central, two-storey gabled porch projecting forward, with a moulded four-centred arch over the entrance. The first floor of the porches is blank, with the exception of number 16, which has a small round window, likely original. Each house has a single window flanking the porch on each floor, with a gable above. The gables above these windows are at a higher level than those of the porches. Windows are generally barred sashes; number 20 has barred sashes on the first floor, while the lower floors display modern glazing in some locations. Number 22 has modern glazing throughout.
