Description

A terrace of six houses located on Stroud Road, dating from the early 19th century. The houses are constructed of stucco over brick, with slate roofs and brick chimneys dividing the properties. They are double-depth, with a rear wing attached to each. The front elevations are defined by pilasters with moulded bases and capitals, supported on acanthus brackets. A raised band runs at first-floor level, with a crowning entablature and coped parapet above the pilasters. Each house features an entrance porch with ornamental wrought-iron panels and a tented roof, although the doors themselves were largely replaced in the 20th century. Windows are mostly original sashes with glazing bars: Nos 23, 25, and 31 retain original sashes with 3x4 panes; Nos 27 and 29 have replacement fixed lights; and No. 33 has late 19th-century plain sashes. The interiors have not been inspected.
