Description

No 23 Japonica, which includes Flat 2, is an early 19th-century building located on Bicton Street. It is constructed of red brick and covered with slate, featuring two storeys and three windows. The centre window on the first floor is blank, and the building has unbarred sash windows. The central entrance is highlighted by a well-designed gabled open porch that dates from the late 19th to early 20th century. This porch has a glazed roof, a dentil cornice, and pierced and scalloped bargeboards, supported by curved brackets. The entrance door is a six-panelled design with panelled reveals and a round arched fanlight above it. There is also an eastern round arched door that features a stuccoed tympanum.
