Description

The Colcombe Castle Hotel is an early 19th-century hotel located on an island site in Colyton Market Place. The building is roughcast with a hipped slate roof featuring oversailing eaves. It is approximately square in plan and has two storeys. The front elevation has three bays with sash windows, most without glazing bars. A wide, central recessed porch features fluted Doric half columns and an entablature, leading to a recessed doorway with a glazed door and sidelights. A balcony sits above the porch, featuring a cast iron balustrade and a large recessed window with octagonal panes. The other elevations are asymmetrical and contain sash windows, some with glazing bars.
