Description
Nos 1 to 7 on Salcombe Road are a group of formerly four or five stucco-faced houses, dating from the early 19th century, with some early 20th-century rebuilding on the left-hand section. The left side features four windows with a balcony, while the rest of the houses are three and two storeys high, including an attic. They have a gable end slate roof with a moulded eaves cornice and one gable facing the front. The recessed sash windows, most of which retain their glazing bars, include some with splayed reveals and drip moulds above ornamented stops. The first floor of the left-hand section has two canted tent-roofed bays. No 1, currently occupied by Bedford John's Ltd, has a modern bowed shop window and a recessed door with four panels, topped by a rectangular fanlight and a cornice on decorated consoles. The ground floor of Nos 2 to 7 is taken up by the entirely modern premises of Slade's Garage. These properties form a group with the Radway Inn, Radway.
