Description
This is an 18th-century headstone made of Beerstone ashlar, located approximately 3 metres east of the chancel of the Church of St Winifred in Branscombe. The upright slab stands about 750 millimetres high and features a double round head with a moulded frame. Each head is adorned with a carved cherub's head. The inscription begins with a word in Gothic lettering, while the remainder is in Roman serif upper and lower case lettering. The stone is somewhat worn, particularly where the name of the deceased and the year of death are recorded, which are now completely missing.
