Description

Stocks, possibly medieval, are located adjacent to the north wall of the tower of the Parish Church in Clyst St George. Made of oak with an iron frame and hinges, they feature two pairs of ankle holes. The stocks are not in their original position; they have been moved under a lean-to shelter with a slate roof that is set against the church tower. Previously, they were situated near the east gate into the churchyard.
