Description

The Stocks, located to the east of the Church of St James in Abinger, date back to the 17th century and were restored in the 20th century. They are made of wood and designed to hold three people, featuring a whipping post at the eastern end. A 20th-century wooden shingled canopy, which is hipped and supported by braced end posts, covers the stocks. There is a railed surround with a gate on the south side. This structure is part of a charming group of buildings around the church green.
