Description
Cade's Cottage is a detached cottage, likely built in the late 17th century and enlarged in the early 19th century. It is constructed of roughcast cob with brick and features a gabled-end and half hipped thatched roof. Originally, it was a single-cell cottage heated by a rear external lateral stack. To the right, a single-room cross-wing was added, which is heated by an internal lateral stack. The cottage has two storeys.
On the front, the gable end of the cross wing has a two-light casement window on the first floor and a three-light window on the ground floor. There is a planked door leading into the older part of the cottage, which is sheltered by a tiled lean-to porch. The roadside elevation includes a four-light casement window on the first floor and another three-light window below. The rear features additional 19th-century casements. The right-hand elevation has a brick lean-to. Although the interior has not been inspected, a chamfered and unstopped cross ceiling beam is visible in the older of the two ground-floor rooms.
