CLYST ST GEORGE EXMOUTH ROAD SX 98 NE 2/13 Cade's Cottage -

Detached cottage. Possibly late C17, enlarged in the early C19. Roughcast cob with brick; gabled-end and half hipped thatched roof. Originally a single-cell cottage heated by a rear external lateral stack. To the right of this was added a single- room cross-wing, heated by an internal lateral stack. 2 storeys. Front: the gable end of the cross wing with a 2-light casement window to first floor, and one of 3 lights to ground floor. Door into older part, planked and with a tiled leanto porch. Roadside elevation with a 4-light casement window to first floor, and another of 3 lights below. Other C19 casements to rear. Right-hand elevation with brick leanto. Interior not inspected, but a chamfered and unstopped cross ceiling beam visible in the older of the 2 ground-floor rooms.
