Description
No. 3 with railings is a house and outbuilding that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the 19th century and is constructed of colourwashed and part rendered sarsen rubble, with some brickwork. The building features tiled roofs and is one storey with an attic. The house has two bays on the south side, with a parallel north wing that extends beyond the gable to the right, serving as the shop. There is a central glazed door flanked by hipped, four-pane canted bays, and hipped flush dormers on the first floor. To the left, there is a lean-to. The 19th-century cast iron railings on the south side of the house were made by W. T. Loveday of Aldbourne. This building is listed for its group value within the context of The Square.
