Description
The former Mason Arms Public House at 11 West Street and West Street House at 13 West Street is a building of historical significance, dating from the early 19th century for the house and the later 19th century for the attached public house. The facade features distinctive diaper brickwork and a tiled roof.
The structure is two stories high and consists of five bays. The central entrance has a six-panelled door with painted glass in the upper lights, all sheltered by a slender portico. The ground floor is adorned with tripartite twelve-pane sash windows, while the first floor has sixteen-pane sashes, all set beneath stone lintels and supported by stone bracketed sills. The roof is hipped on the left side, with a chimney stack located on the right party wall.
To the left, the former public house is a two-story, five-bay structure that is painted and features a central gabled porch along with flanking bay windows. The first floor has twelve-pane sash windows, and the eaves are decorated with brick dentils.
The forecourt of West Street House is enclosed by cast iron railings and a low wall with coping.
