Description

Milestone located 1500 meters west of Froxfield village, dating from the late 18th century. It is made of painted sarsen stone and has a triangular section with a pitched top that tapers to a rectangular shape towards the ground. The inscriptions, which are incised, have become obscured and overpainted with the following legends: on the left side, "HUNGERFORD 3"; in the center, "A4"; on the left again, "To MARLBORO 6"; and on the lower face, "LONDON 68."
