Description

This is a late 18th century building on Brown Street. It is two storeys and has an attic, constructed of brick with a plain string course marking the first floor level, and has an old tile roof. There are two two-light dormer casements in the attic. The front has four windows on the first floor and three on the ground floor; these windows lack glazing bars and have flush architrave frames. A five-panel door is centrally located on the ground floor, featuring small top panels, a flush reeded bottom panel, and a central panel with a raised circle, a reeded edge, and a small circle ornament. An arched fanlight with radiating and concentric designs sits above the door, and the doorcase is embellished with reeded pilasters topped with rosette ornaments, a moulded cornice, and ball ornaments above the pilasters. Inside, the staircase is noteworthy for its moulded handrail, turned balusters, and cut brackets supporting the ends of the treads. Numbers 87 to 97A (odd) form a group.
