Description
The Studio, originally the Friends Meeting House, is a Grade II listed building located on the north side of High Street in Market Lavington. It was built in 1716 and later modified in the 18th century. The structure is made of brick in English and garden wall bond, featuring a greensand gable facing the street and a tiled roof.
The building has a symmetrical five-bay elevation on its eastern side. It includes two pairs of panelled doors with Bath stone surrounds and arris roll detailing. The windows are twelve-paned sashes with segmental heads, while the upper level balcony has six-paned windows. The gables of the main body of the meeting house are adorned with large thirty-paned sash windows, which also have segmental arches and keystones. The roof is hipped.
Inside, there is a panelled front to the balcony, supported by four columns aligned along the long axis of the room. A central column supports a flat ceiling and the roof. Adjacent to the front of the building is a long, narrow graveyard that still contains some remaining headstones.
