Description
The Mason's Arms is a late 17th century or early 18th century building located on the north side of Newtown. It is constructed of painted stone and stands three storeys high. The second floor features three casement windows with stone mullions, while the first floor has five casement windows with moulded stone mullions and single transoms. The central doorway is square-headed and has a deep roll bolection moulding surround, topped with a flat stone hood supported by cut stone brackets. To the right of the door are two additional casement windows with stone mullions and single transoms. There is a later single-storey projecting bar extension to the left of the doorway. The building also has moulded strings at the first and second floor levels. The Mason's Arms is part of a group that includes Nos 52 to 62 and 62B.
