Description
Nos 60 and 61 Newtown are two houses built in slightly differing periods, part of a continuous row with numbers 53 to 59. The fronts of these houses were altered in the early 19th century. They are three storeys high, constructed with a mix of coursed and random rubble, featuring ashlar window dressings and quoins. The roofs are pantiled, topped with a central stone chimney stack. Each house has two windows per storey. No 60 has early 19th century sash windows with thin glazing bars still intact, while No 61 has paired sash windows, with only one on the second floor and no glazing bars. Each house also has a round-headed doorway that is deeply recessed, topped with a semi-circular fanlight; No 60's fanlight features tracery. These houses are included for their group value with the surrounding properties.
