Description
1a Newtown is a 17th-century building that has undergone later alterations and restoration. It is constructed of coursed rubble with a stone-tiled roof featuring eaves, an end gable with coping, and a saddle stone. The building is two stories high and has three windows along with a circular opening that contains a leaded casement on the first floor. The ground floor features restored stone-mullioned casements, while the first floor has later wooden casements. There is a flat-pointed chamfered stone door opening with a ribbed and studded door. To the left, there is an elliptical-headed wide archway with modern doors. Further left are two ashlar gatepiers topped with triangular pediments on all four sides. Additionally, there is a side doorway with a parapet and coping above, leading to a four-panel wooden door. 1a Newtown, along with its boundary walls, the Priory Barn, and Nos 1A to 3, forms a cohesive group.
